WebDec 6, 2016 · I have several 1911s, two are alloy framed. Neither has seen a round count over 1200. They both show little wear on the frame. All of my heavy use 1911s are steel, and I like it that way. Are you just trying to beat a gun to death? The steel guns are much easier to shoot with the extra weight.
